Surefire selected to deliver UKs largest SHDF fund for WATMOSS

Surefire are delighted to announce that we’ve been selected by housing association, WATMOSS to deliver the UK’s largest Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) as part of their exciting new refurbishment project.

What will the project entail?

WATMOSS are currently underway with their community refurbishment project that’s set to finish in summer 2022.

The project aims to improve the energy-efficiency of homes in the communities of Burrowes St, Chuckery, Leamore and Sandbank as well as give the buildings a new and refreshed look.

As part of the refurbishment, tenants can expect to see the installation of external wall insulation (EWI), refurbishment of their balconies, as well as new double-glazed UPVC windows for homes and communal areas. The project will also include any necessary repairs to the external structure and concrete of the buildings.

During the initial planning stages of the refurbishment project, WATMOSS asked residents within these communities to complete a short survey that would enable them to decide on the new colours to be used on the buildings.

Thanks to the overwhelming response received to the survey, dark blue and grey were the colours that made the cut and will be combined with white to give a fresh, modern and bright look.

How will Surefire help?

Working alongside WATMOSS, Surefire will be involved in the planning and installation of the upgraded materials and systems to help improve the energy-efficiency of the homes being refurbished.

This will include the fitting of new, high quality windows and doors designed to keep heat in and reduce problems such as drafts, condensation and mould.

We’ll also be working on the installation of non-combustible, crack free external wall insulation to keep homes protected from the elements, whilst keeping heat inside.

When will the work be completed?

Due to the pandemic, work on this refurbishment project was delayed until April 2021. However, it’s now well underway and is expected to be completed by summer 2022 when the first residents will be able to enjoy their new, energy-efficient homes.
