Across the UK, many social housing developments and estates are old, badly insulated and poorly built. Not only does this make them uncomfortable to live in, but due to being non energy-efficient and combined with the rising energy costs, more and more people living in these homes are facing fuel poverty than ever before.
The Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) has been created to help the government meet their net-zero target by 2050, create more energy-efficient homes, and tackle fuel poverty.
£160m of funding has been allocated during the first wave of the project for eligible local authorities and social landlords which will see the improvement of social housing developments across England.
